Mexico reveals more details of 5-year oil tender plan

Mexico's energy ministry Sener has revealed more details of the five-year plan for oil and gas tenders announced earlier this month.

The 2015-19 plan kicks off on Wednesday with round one, which includes 145 exploration and extraction blocks, and will continue with round two (286 blocks), three (279) and four (204). By 2019, the plan will have offered 914 blocks covering 178,554km2, with resources estimated at 108Bboe.

For non-conventional exploration, the country will offer 303 blocks, including 12 extraction blocks at Chicontepec basin in round two, for total potential resources of 66.6Bboe.

Starting in 2016, Sener will consider adding additional areas proposed for the five-year plan during the first half of each year, in line with article No. 28 of the hydrocarbons law.
