Peru's environmental monitoring agency OEFA reported an oil spill at well 13 of the San Jacinto deposit at block 192, near the community of 12 de Octubre in Tigre district, Loreto region.

Pacific Stratus Energy, the block's operator, has begun the implementation of a contingency plan, said OEFA.

The Peruvian government issued a supreme decree that establishes the timetable for the commercialization and use of B5 diesel with sulfur content no greater than 50ppm in an initial nine regions.

The rollout begins on January 1 for Áncash, Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Huánuco, Huancavelica, Ica, Lambayeque and Pasco.

Refiner La Pampilla recently began the commercialization of Euro IV quality, B5 S50 diesel at terminals as part of the company's RLP-21 project to comply with new fuel specification regulations.


The energy and mines ministry's energy environmental affairs office requested technical opinions from energy and mining investment regulator Osinergmin and the agriculture and irrigation ministry regarding Petrolera Monterrico's US$179mn project to drill over 100 wells at onshore blocks II and XV.
