Paraguayan state-run oil company Petropar has implemented oil service firm FMC Technologies' Fuel Facs fuel management automation system at its Villa Elisa refining complex.

The oil company invested US$300,000 in the solution, which will allow the automation of fuel dispatch, storage and control activities.

Petropar will once again test the solution on its fuel loading islands without human intervention this Wednesday, said Gerardo Jiménez, plant manager at Villa Elisa. If the exercise goes as planned, Petrobar will sign a maintenance contract with FMC Technologies. According to a press release, Petrobar expects to use Fuel Facs for all fuel dispatch activities by November.

The FMC Technologies solution can be integrated into enterprise resource planning platforms in order to centralize information.

According to Jiménez, wholesale clients will be given a magnetic card that will grant them to access to the loading areas and enable the fuel dispensers, which will dispatch the exact amount of fuel recorded in the system.

Last year, Ecuadorian national oil company EP Petroecuador installed a fuel management system in the Pascuales terminal, which supplies 3.1mn gallons of fuel every day.
