Peru environmental authorities approved a natural gas infrastructure project planned by Argentina's Pluspetrol at the Camisea field in Cusco region.

The work aims to reinforce gas transport on block 56 and includes a 20-inch, 25km pipeline that will run from Pagoreni B to the Malvinas gas plant.

Pluspetrol submitted the semi-detailed EIS for the US$60mn 15-month project in January 2014.

Approval does not constitute the granting of other authorizations or permits the company must secure, according to a resolution from the energy and mines ministry's (MEM) energy environmental affairs office.

In Peru, Pluspetrol also holds blocks 8 and 88, the country's principal gas producing areas, and exploration block 108.
