The Prosperidade I plant in the northeastern state of Bahia will be fitted with 34SG engines in an order worth 10mn euros (US$11mn), Wärtsilä said in a statement on Tuesday.
Imetame Energia said the plant forms part of its gas-to-wire strategy, which seeks to utilize offtake from nearby gas fields for electricity generation.
"A power plant based on Wärtsilä's technology showed to be the best solution to turn the gas into money," Imetame director Roberto Baptista said.
Prosperidade I is the first of three power plants being developed by Imetame in Bahia.
