Pemex bolsters fight against pipeline milking in Puebla
Pemex said it will reinforce its collaboration with the government of Puebla state to reduce fuel theft incidents.
As part of a working group with the state government, the federal attorney general's office, the defense ministry and federal police, Pemex said 3,183 vehicles have been impounded, 781 people arrested and more than 6mn liters of gasoline seized in Puebla since January 2017.
In 2017 there were 1,443 fuel theft incidents in Puebla, second only to Guanajuato with 1,852.
In related news a truck burned on Tuesday in an accident as a result of the 'milking' of a Pemex pipeline between Salamanca and Guadalajara in Jalisco state, according to a company press release.
The Salamanca-Guadalajara pipeline has a capacity of 85,000b/d and transports different grades of gasoline and diesel from the refinery at Salamanca, Guanajuato, to Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Pemex reported that there were 69 pipeline milking incidents in Jalisco and 131 in Guanajuato in January 2018. In 2017 there were 10,363 pipeline tapping incidents in total.
