Peru reveals proposed Cálidda investment plan

Peru's government has released a document that outlines investments to be carried out in company Cálidda's natural gas distribution concession which serves capital Lima and neighboring port city Callao.

The bulk of the US$293mn investments under the 2018-22 plan will go on installing over 3,700km of pipelines and close to 700km of connection pipes, according to a resolution bill from energy and mining investment regulator Osinergmin.

The document highlights that investment executed in the 2014-18 plan has surpassed the amount approved for the period, which is coming to a close.

The watchdog will hold a public hearing on March 12 to present the resolution bill, available here in Spanish, which also covers rates and a promotion plan for low-income sectors in the concession area.

In a related note, Okra Energy reported that it awarded a long-term PPA for Peru's first small-scale natural gas liquefaction facility to Flesan Energía, which will install and operate 2.8MW of generation units at the plant in Colan, northern Piura region.

New York-based Okra, through local subsidiary Lantera Energy, aims to bring the LNG plant online by July 1.
