Pequiven's phosphate fertilizer plants 72% done - report

The new phosphate fertilizer plants that Venezuela's state petrochemical company Pequiven is building at its Moron complex in Carabobo state are 72% complete, on average, according to a report in El Progreso newspaper. The sulfuric acid plant, requiring investment put at US$330mn, is 68% ready and due to come on line in June 2011, the report said. The expansion of the phosphoric acid plant, needing another US$129mn, is 58% complete and the phosphate rock treatment plant, requiring US$90mn, is 90% done, according to the newspaper. Together, the projects are employing 2,640 workers, directly and indirectly, and are designed to increase production of raw materials for phosphate fertilizers to 6,100t/d.
