Pequiven, PDVSA, ministry pledge to ensure fertilizer supplies

Venezuelan state petrochemical company Pequiven, PDVSA Agrícola and the ministry of agriculture will be responsible for implementing a fertilizer distribution network in the country, Pequiven said in a press release.

"The fertilizer distribution network will ensure the adequate supply of this product under the supervision of the state, which will guarantee timely delivery, and avoid contraband and price speculation," PDVSA Agrícola president, Eglis Ramírez, was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Pequiven's fertilizer sales director, Eduardo Rodríguez, said the company would supply the market with 550,000t of fertilizers during the 2009-10 harvest.

So far this year, Pequiven has supplied the market with 638,000t of fertilizers.
