Full-year production of biodiesel in Argentina is expected to reach 2.5Mt in 2016.
Of the total, about 1.5Mt will be exported with the remainder consumed by the internal market, Claudio Molina, who heads the country's biofuels chamber, told state news service Télam.
The majority of exports will go to North America, Molina said.
The 2.5Mt figure is up from full-year production of 1.81Mt in 2015, according to data from the energy and mining ministry, and will be reached using just 55% of the country's production capacity, Molina said.
The director of Argentina's chamber of biofuels-producing SMEs (Cebreb), Francisco Jáuregi, cited "a much more fluid dialogue, which generates better pre-visibility for production" under President Maurcio Macri's government, versus the previous administration.
