Buenos Aires access road widening kicks off
Works involving over 675mn Argentine pesos (US$18mn) kicked off to widen Buenos Aires' western access road network.
The project, which was awarded to local firm Dycasa, involves adding a lane to a 3.5km stretch of road leading to the Luján district, the same on a 3km stretch in Moreno municipality and widening the José María Paz and Martín Fierro bridges, Argentina's highway authority said in a release.
Other works include improving the intersection of national routes 5 and 7 and the inclusion of a new road in the same area that will connect the towns of Mercedes and San Andrés de Giles, in Buenos Aires province.
The contract was awarded by highway operator Auoeste, and the works are part of an agreement between its owner GCO and the federal government to extend the concession.
The highway authority added that a separate tender to improve the northern access network will be launched in the coming days, and will entail widening a 6km section of the Tigre branch road and improving the Las Magnolias intersection at the Pilar branch road.
