Argentina's energy ministry authorized SoEnergy to pull thermo generation units Tartagal (10MW), Esquina (16.5MW), Salto (22.4MW) and Pehuajó (19.7MW) from the wholesale power market.

The company submitted the withdrawal request to wholesale power market administrator Cammesa after failing to extend a supply contract with the latter.

The environmental evaluation service of Chilean region Coquimbo has recommended approval of Prime Energía's US$70mn 150MW Llanos Blancos diesel-fired backup project.

A regional evaluation commission is scheduled to review the project on August 16.

Uruguay's government and national employment and professional training institute Inefop signed an agreement (pictured) to create what is branded as the country's first renewable energies maintenance and operation training center which will operate in Durazno starting in October.
