Chile's state-run copper mining company Corporación Nacional del Cobre (Codelco) will launch a series of tenders for products and services in the next two weeks over mining industry emarketplace Quadrem (www.quardrem.com), Codelco IT director Didier de Saint Pierre said, quoted in Chilean financial daily El Diario.
Codelco will call for bids for the provision of 600 computers, with two to six more tenders planned before the end of the year, De Saint Pierre said.
Participants in Quadrem are: La Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (Codelco) Alcan Aluminium Limited; Alcoa Inc; Anglo American Plc; Barrick Gold Corp; The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited (BHP); Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD); De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd; Inco Limited; Newmont Mining Corporation; Noranda Inc; Phelps Dodge Corporation; Rio Tinto Plc/Limited and WMC Limited.
The first B2B transaction on Quadrem was carried out two weeks ago with automotive parts supplier Detroit Chile.
