Colombian automobile portal Tucarro plans to expand coverage to the cities of Medellin, Barranquilla, Cucuta and Bucaramanga, building on its current presence in capital city Bogota and Cali, newspaper La Republica reported.
Tucarro, which is part of Venezuela's Classified Media Group, launched in Colombia in May last year and now receives 100,000 online visitors a month and total transactions of US$18mn.
The company makes a one-off charge of 30,000 pesos for an advert, which stays on the site until it is sold. Country manager Jorge Caldas said about 800 cars are added to the site a month and 90% are sold within three weeks.
Meanwhile Tucarro has launched a bimonthly offline magazine called Revista Tucarro.com for people without Internet access.
Tucarro also has operations in Argentina and Puerto Rico, while Venezuelan parent company Classified Media Group has other portals offering motorbike, pets, boats and aircraft.
