US semiconductor company AMD's board has appointed senior VP and CFO Thomas Seifert as interim CEO, following former CEO Dirk Meyer's resignation, according to an AMD statement.
Seifert will maintain his current responsibilities as CFO while a CEO search committee looks for a permanent replacement. Seifert has asked not to be considered by the committee.
According to AMD's preliminary financial results, revenue increased 2% in 2010 to some US$1.65bn, with a gross margin of some 45% for the year. Full results will be released January 20.
