Americanas allowed to resume sales

A Brazilian court has revoked an injunction suspending local website Americanas' sales in Rio de Janeiro state, newspapers reported.

But the state tribunal also decided to keep a hold on 860,000 reais (US$544,924) from the company's banking accounts. The amount is the sum of daily fines imposed by the court against Americanas for violating the injunction.

In May, the Rio de Janeiro branch of Brazil's federal public ministry prohibited local online retailer B2W Cia Global do Varejo - the holding company of the Americanas website - from selling more products online in the state until the company brought up to date the delivery of behind-schedule sales
