Mexican IT consultancy Avantare expects sales to increase 35% this year with international revenues playing an increasingly significant role, company director Mariana Pérez told BNamericas without providing hard figures.
The firm - which specializes in IT consulting, implementing best practices and software development - is looking to sign up business partnerships in Spain, as well as Colombia and Ecuador.
Avantare has also shown interest in penetrating Chile, and recently participated in a business trip to the country led by Mexican IT association Amiti. Pérez said the trip consisted of business meetings in Santiago and Viña del Mar.
"We are in the process of working with a company in the area of evaluations," she said. "On the other hand, we are talking with another company about integrating our resources in specific projects that they are carrying out."
The consultancy will also try to breathe life into business in Costa Rica and Brazil, which are countries where Avantare has carried out projects in the past.
"In Costa Rica, we have tried to obtain continuity in our expansion plans, but we have only had isolated business. We would prefer something more cyclical," Pérez said.
"The advantage that we have in Brazil is that it's a much larger market," Pérez added. "But there's a problem with language. We do business in a combination of Portuguese and Spanish... but it hasn't been easy because there are consulting firms that provide the same services, but in Brazilian Portuguese."
Meanwhile, domestic efforts will be focused on Team Software Process (TSP) and Personal Software Process (PSP) requirements.
Avantare was founded in 2000 and has collaborated since its inception with Mexican government initiatives, such as the software industry development program Prosoft. Key clients include Mexico's Banamex, the local division of IBM (NYSE: IBM) and retailer Wal-Mart.
