The average salary for Brazilian IT professionals has increased 20% in the last year, local press reported, citing a study by recruitment firm Robert Half.
This growth is the result of increased demand for IT professionals from companies in the service, finance and industrial sectors, according to the study.
The 2011-12 salary guide also showed that senior professionals have been considered among the most valued in Brazil's IT industry in the past 12 months.
The study found that Brazilian companies look mainly for people with communication skills, an innovative attitude, technical knowledge and fluency in English.
Salaries for business analysts - responsible for creating IT projects to respond to a company's needs - were among the most valued in the last year, at 5,000-6,500 reais (US$3,153-4,099) for an entry level.
Salaries for ERP professionals, particularly those specialized in SAP, are also highly valued, staring at 3,000-5,000 reais in small companies.
As for the highest salaries the industry, the study indicated that IT directors with more than 10 years of experience could receive 28,000-50,000 reais a month in large companies.
