BEC, Nasdaq form strategic alliance

Monday, October 24, 2011

Chilean electronic stock exchange BEC has formed a strategic alliance with international stock operator Nasdaq OMX to connect online to other markets in the world, through the latter's software.

With the new software, BEC will benefit from high-frequency trading, order routes, instant connectivity and direct market access, among others, BEC said in a press release.

The alliance will also allow BEC to use Nasdaq OMX's promotional marketing infrastructure, implement stock cross-listing both ways between the two, and pave the way toward a feasibility study on creating future pesos/dollars for negotiations on Nasdaq OMX's exchange, which involves more than 70 exchanges in over 50 countries.
