Argentina's e-commerce market continues to experience sustained expansion, but companies need to develop channels and strategies for the segment, local e-commerce chamber CACE president Patricia Jebsen told BNamericas.
"We're seeing very significant development in certain areas such as electronics and tourism. Another area showing growth in recent years is clothing," she said, adding that the average annual e-commerce ticket in Argentina is 591 pesos (US$140).
The e-commerce market is forecast to expand 50% this year, from 7.75bn pesos last year, when the market grew 48%, CACE said. By comparison, e-commerce billed 80mn pesos in 2001.
The chamber estimates that Argentina's e-commerce activity currently accounts for 8.3% of the total in Latin America and the Caribbean.
