Chilean online government procurement portal ChileCompra has awarded a framework agreement for software development to 51 ICT industry companies to support the modernization of state agencies, according to a press release from the entity.
ChileCompra director Felipe Goya estimates that the agreement will oversee more than 3bn pesos (US$6.2mn) in transactions over its three-year duration.
The agreement offers the development and maintenance of software through three service categories - project management, testing and design, development and construction. It aims to allow state agencies to quickly manage comprehensive software development, while encouraging the transfer of solutions between institutions.
According to ChileCompra, the agreement will lead to more efficient use of resources and savings for the state, while enhancing synergy between government institutions. The framework's goal is to offer products and services from more than 1,110 providers across the country to the agencies.
The companies in the agreement will have access to ChileCompra Express, an online store with 170,000 pre-tendered products and services. In 2010, ChileCompra Express registered US$1.11bn in sales, up US$125mn from 2009.
