US cloud technology startup Cotendo has completed a private funding round of US$17mn that includes strategic investors and business partners Citrix Systems and Juniper Networks to support its long-term growth plans, which include Asia-Pacific and Latin America, Cotendo said in a statement.
The company will use the funds to embark on a rapid sales and business development expansion in Asia-Pacific and Latin America to address the growing demand for mobile content acceleration services in places where smartphones have often replaced PCs as the primary computing and networking vehicle.
Cotendo aims to expand its presence in the enterprise application delivery market, to innovate in accelerating mobile content to end users and in personalized dynamic content for mobile and web applications.
Along with Citrix Systems and Juniper Networks, through its Junos Innovation Fund, this round of funding included existing venture backers Sequoia, Benchmark and Tenaya Capital.
"The synergy between the services and technologies of Citrix Systems and Cotendo blend on-premise physical and virtual appliances, content acceleration and cloud services that will accelerate and optimize delivery from the end user all the way to the enterprise over distributed networks," Cotendo said.
Cotendo is a content delivery network and application delivery network service provider. Founded in 2008, the company's headquarters are in Sunnyvale, California, and its strategic partners include AT&T, Google and Sumitomo.
