Dell plans to open a new data center in São Paulo by the end of the year as part of the company's expansion plans, local and international press reported.

The announcement was made during the opening of the public and private cloud computing data center in Shanghai, the company's first in the Asia-Pacific and Japan regions.

Earlier this year, Dell announced plans to invest US$1bn to improve its cloud services and data storage offerings in a three-year plan, with part of the money going toward opening data centers around the world.
