Digibras to invest US$55.3mn to produce hard drives locally - report

Brazil's Digibras, the information technology unit of local consumer electronics group CCE, plans to invest up to 92.9mn reais (US$55.3mn) to produce 11.5mn hard drives over three years, business daily Valor Economico reported Monday.

Digibras will start producing hard drives at its plant in the Manaus free-trade zone.

According to Valor, Digibras will invest 26.4mn reais in the first year, when it expects to produce 3.3mn hard drives; an additional 31.7mn reais in the second year to produce 3.9mn units; and 34.8mn reais in the third year to reach production of 4.3mn units.
