Argentine President Cristina Fernández has enacted a law authorizing digital signature use for legal proceedings in the country, according to the presidential website.
Law 26,685, enacted by decree 919/2011, gives digital signature the same legal validity and evidentiary value as conventional signatures.
It also authorizes the use of files, documents, communications, email addresses and digital signatures in all judicial and administrative processes with the judiciary.
The supreme court and the council of magistrates will jointly regulate its use and progressive implementation.
