Dimension Data acquires OpSource to push cloud strategy

South African IT services provider Dimension Data has acquired cloud and managed hosting solutions provider OpSource to enhance its cloud computing offering, the companies said in a joint statement without disclosing the deal's value.

OpSource will become part of Dimension Data's new centralized cloud solutions business unit, which will report directly to Dimension Data CEO Brett Dawson.

"We believe OpSource provides us with an accelerated time-to-market as their infrastructure and services are well established and tested," Dawson said.

Dimension Data, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Holdings, is a US$4bn global IT firm that provides solutions such as unified communications, network integration, IT infrastructure outsourcing and managed services.

In Latin America, the company has presence in Mexico, Brazil and Chile.

OpSource, founded in 2002, has operations in California, Virginia, the UK, Ireland and India.
