E-commerce sales in Chile could increase 30% in December compared to the same month in 2010, Santiago chamber of commerce CCS's research manager, George Lever, was quoted as saying by local paper El Mercurio.

Considering the total number of searches on e-commerce sites, including those that did not end in a sale, the increase could reach 54%, the paper said, based on a study by price comparison site BuscaPé.

According to Lever, sales during December usually increase 20% compared to other months due to the Christmas season. In addition, "e-commerce in Chile is growing at rates close to 40%, much faster than any other sector," he added.
