US storage solutions supplier EMC (NYSE: EMC) has acquired compatriot identification solutions provider NetWitness, according to a press release from EMC that did not disclose hard figures.
NetWitness will now operate as a part of EMC's security division, RSA. The company does not expect the transaction to have material impact on revenue or earnings per share for the full 2011 fiscal year.
According to EMC, NetWitness security solutions will extend RSA's capabilities and become a core element of the division's advanced security management solutions. EMC said NetWitness will provide real-time visibility into network activity and increase efficiency in investigation and workflow.
NetWitness provides solutions for issues such as insider threats, zero-day exploits and targeted malware, fraud and data leaking. The company has enterprise customers in sectors such as financial services, power and energy, telecoms, retail and government agencies.
