Slovakian antivirus and security software developer Eset and US IT wholesaler Avnet Technology Solutions (NYSE: AVT) are working to extend their partnership through the Southern Cone, Eset's channel manager for the Southern Cone and Peru, Veronica Meneguzzi, told BNamericas.
"We are in contact with other countries in the region. It hasn't been confirmed yet, but conversations are rather advanced," she said. "We've already been talking in two other countries... in the Southern Cone."
Last October, both firms announced an agreement whereby Avnet Chile will position Eset's complete line of products among corporate and residential sector clients. New clients signed up through the partnership so far include Chile's air force.
"We have started to participate in a portion of the market where we weren't present. We are participating in integrated solution sales that go beyond selling isolated Eset solutions," she said. "Through Avnet, we have also started working with solution integrators."
Additional plans with Avnet Chile include negotiating deals with ISPs and increasing retail penetration.
At a regional level, Eset currently works with Chilean retailers Ripley and Falabella and Peru's Hiraoka, Meneguzzi said.
Eset is still tallying its Q1 sales, but Meneguzzi said first quarter growth in the Southern Cone and Peru was roughly double the market average of 8-9%.
Sales advances were uniform across all markets, but the executive underscored different adoption trends among countries.
"In Peru, we are experiencing significant growth at the corporate and retail level while, for example, Argentina has seen strong growth in SMEs," she said. "Growth is coming from different sectors."
Eset has its Latin America headquarters in Argentina, as well as a regional partner network. The company's largest markets in terms of sales are Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Colombia.
