Dutch digital security company Gemalto saw its revenues in the Americas surge 25% to 489mn euros (US$679mn) in 2010, according to results released by the company.
The Americas represented 21% of the company's total employees, while Latin America continues to present large growth potential in digital security as well as for making a strong migration to EMV cards, Gemalto said.
Globally, Gemalto's net profits grew from 161mn euros in 2009 to 216mn euros in 2010. Annual revenues expanded 19% to 1.86bn euros.
Gemalto highlighted the growth in its software and services segment, which jumped 54%, reaching 252mn euros in revenue.
For 2011, the company expects its revenue and profit from ongoing operations to continue expanding, for further progress in its 2010-13 development plan. Gemalto said it is on track to reach its 300mn-euro target for profits from operations in 2013.
