Brazilian IT services provider Globalweb Data Services, a joint venture between Brazilian distributor Grupo TBA and IT firm Grupo Benner, has acquired local Microsoft distributor Compusoftware, according to press reports.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.

The deal now brings Globalweb's annual revenues close to 300mn reais (US$162mn). "We are accomplishing the tasks planned when we launched Globalweb: growing organically and also through mergers and acquisitions to reach the mark of half a billion reais in revenues by the end of fiscal 2014," Globalweb's CEO Severino Benner was quoted as saying.

"We maintain our goal to grow 25-28% per year, mainly focused on cloud-based solutions," he added.

Compusoftware is one of nine Microsoft Cloud Accelerate partners in Brazil, selling the US giant's Azure cloud platform.

Globalweb's new business unit will keep the Compusoftware brand. José Mauricio Neves Rey, Compusoftware's general director, has been appointed as vice president of the new unit.
