Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) has acquired The Dealmap, a start-up that shows on a map where one can find all the online discounts in one's geographic area, the latter said in a statement without disclosing the purchase price.
According to the statement, Google is the "ideal platform" to help accelerate the company's growth together with innovation and the expansion to other areas of commerce.
Since May 2010, The Dealmap grew to more than 2mn users of its web, mobile, social and email products, and more than 85mn monthly visitors to its partner network.
"We will continue to support The Dealmap's core products and partner services," the company said, adding that customers will still be able to access local and daily deals through The Dealmap website, mobile apps and daily email.
