Colombian software developer Heinsohn plans to start offering outsourcing services to the US market by 2012, the general manager from the Chilean unit, Germán Tolosa, told BNamericas.

As part of the project, Tolosa said, the company expects to sell US$3mn during the first year of service in the North American market, with plans "to gradually increase" year by year.

Currently, Heinsohn offers outsourcing services to other Latin American countries. According to Tolosa, Heinsohn's main selling point is related to its low cost of services for the region.

The executive also highlighted that Heinsohn is one of the few companies in Latin America to have CMMI (capability maturity model integration) level 5 certification.

"There are only a few enterprises in Latin America that have been awarded this certification. For example, in Chile, there are only level 3 [companies]," Tolosa said.

Heinsohn has 500 employees and provides software development for the financial sector, focusing on software engineering and business processes. It has more than 1,500 clients in nine countries throughout Latin American.
