HP (NYSE: HPQ) maintained its leading position in the PC market in Latin America during the fourth quarter of 2010 with a 20.8% share, according to a release from the company, citing figures from international tech consultancy IDC.
The company's regional share put it 12 percentage points above its closest competitor in the PC segment.
Additionally, HP was confirmed as leader in the Americas for the portable and desktop computer markets, with a 27.6% and 24.4% share, respectively.
More specifically, IDC figures placed HP at first place in the Chilean PC market, where the company has a 34.7% share, putting it 17 percentage points above its nearest competitor.
HP also led the portable computers segment in Chile with a 37% market share, as well as the desktop market at 29.2%.
