HP (NYSE: HPQ) has opened a global services center in Colombia's Antioquia department, local paper La República reported.
The 3,000m2 center will initially be located at the engineering faculty of Universidad Eafit in the city of Medellín, with capacity for 400 employees. But it is expected to move to a 12,000m2 facility by mid-2012, for which HP has reportedly invested 37bn pesos (US$18.5mn).
The center will begin with 80 employees during the first phase of operations, HP Colombia general manager Eduardo Rueda was quoted as saying.
The facility will allow the company to provide internal and external services, such as BPO, sales and support.
