Microsoft, Yell planning strategic alliance

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and UK provider of print and digital services Yell Group are planning to form a broad strategic alliance to offer SMBs innovative digital solutions, the latter said in a statement.

Yell currently provides print and digital marketing services to more than 1.3mn customers in Latin America, the US, the UK and Spain.

The alliance seeks to harness the companies' complementary strengths and expertise in the delivery of online advertising and business solutions to help SMBs reach and engage consumers.

"Small and medium-sized businesses are looking for digital solutions to help them grow their businesses, transact with customers and be more efficient," said Yell Group CEO Mike Pocock.

Furthermore, Microsoft and Yell will join forces to offer search, mobile and local advertising solutions to SMBs based on the Yahoo and Microsoft Search Alliance and the growing consumer audience of Bing and Yahoo Search.

Under the agreement, Yell will offer the full suite of Microsoft's SMB productivity and business software and cloud services, including Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and emerging SMB-focused communications solutions.

In addition, Microsoft will help Yell to accelerate its new cloud-based services, which will provide the latter's customers with access to these new digital offerings.
