Cyber attacks that disabled three Brazilian government websites last week reflect the need for security investments in the country, science and technology minister Aloizio Mercadante was quoted as saying by local press.
"The damage of the attacks was small, but it served as an important experience to show us that we need to invest," the minister said.
The federal police's IT department has already started investigating the security breaches that affected Brazil's federal government, presidency and tax collection agency to identify the authors of the attacks and find the weak points in the systems.
The idea is also to implement corrective measures, and to that end, Mercadante said the government is working with hackers to improve several ministries' websites.
"I want to invite them to a hacker's day," he added. "We're working on some new ministry portals, and I would like to have their feedback on that."
