Friday, February 4, 2011

US database solutions developer Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) will partner with compatriot IT wholesaler Avnet Technology Solutions (NYSE: AVT) to market its hardware and improve presence in various regions in Mexico, according to media outlet InfoChannel.

The partnership established between the companies will make Avnet the only wholesaler able to sell Oracle's hardware in a number of regions and industries throughout Mexico. Avnet and Oracle will have a global relationship in terms of developing solutions and methods of sales for the hardware offered by the manufacturer.

Through the alliance, Oracle plans to improve its presence in various regions and industries in the Mexican market, as well as to recruit new business partners in the country.

Oracle sees opportunities to improve its presence in the Bajío, north and south regions of Mexico. Despite being more saturated, the manufacturer is also eyeing regions such as the center of the country, where they can penetrate vertical markets such as health or retail.

To reach these markets, Avnet and Oracle will recruit channels that have experience as solution integrators. According to Avnet general director Eduardo Barrón, those which are not experts in the field can still receive training and resources to launch projects. The idea is for the channels to sell packaged solutions - such as offering the database, the server and some software - for vertical markets.

Initially, solutions will be available for security, virtualization and storage niches, and eventually for mobility and unified communications. According to Barrón, solutions will be directed at the markets with the best penetration opportunities: finance, retail, health, government and energy.
