US structured cabling provider Panduit is increasingly seeing projects in Argentina's public sector, company general manager for the Southern Cone, Maximiliano Schlez, told BNamericas.
"We can clearly say that government projects are boosting our overall business in Argentina," mostly in data centers for national and municipal bodies, the executive said. "We are also seeing opportunities in video surveillance projects."
Panduit is also seeing increasing activity in Uruguay's government sector, mainly in projects carried out by large state-run companies. Taking into account the overall Southern Cone operation, government projects account for 35-50% of overall revenues, the executive added.
Operations in Argentina currently represent 40% of revenues in the Southern Cone, a region that also includes Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay.
Panduit, which has traditionally been known for selling cabling, is diversifying its portfolio to implement total infrastructure solutions that incorporate cabinets, management systems, power-over-ethernet and physical network security, among other equipment. The company calls the concept unified physical infrastructure.
