Paraguay opened its center for entrepreneurship and internet in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
Named Ceilac and located in the country's capital Asunción, the center seeks to to contribute to the evolution of the internet ecosystem in LAC.
Ceilac is the result of collaborations between ICT ministry Senatics, Latin American domain administrator LacTLD, and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann).
Initially, the center will focus on regional capacity building for the domain name system (DNS) industry.
The facility, which will be hosted by Senatics, will serve as a networking point where regional entrepreneurs and local public officials will be able to participate in training sessions provided by Icann professionals. These sessions will cover areas such as e-commerce, digital marketing, electronic signatures, internet security, and cloud services, among others.
Paraguay's has put notable efforts in taking advantage of new technologies. The government is drafting a bill to regulate telework, a mode of employment that is gaining prominence in the country's technology industry.
