Argentine electronics manufacturer Radio Victoria plans to invest 25mn pesos (US$5.9mn) to start producing notebooks in Tierra del Fuego province, local newspaper La Nación reported.
The notebooks will be manufactured under the RCA brand, according to the report.
The firm expects the first devices to be commercially available by year-end. The estimated production for 2013 is some 150,000 notebooks, according to the report.
Radio Victoria's plant is in the city of Río Grande.
The government passed several laws in late 2009 to provide fiscal benefits to companies that manufacture or assemble products in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina's southernmost province.
The law was designed to boost ICT product production in the region. It was paired with a law imposing higher taxes on imported goods.
