Avanade, a business technology solutions and managed services provider, has signed a strategic alliance with Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) to develop and provide business intelligence and data storage solutions for Microsoft SQL Server, the former said in a statement.

The solutions will allow companies in the retail and financial services industries to scale their IT infrastructure and manage large volumes of data in their facilities and the cloud to obtain relevant information.

As part of the agreement, Avanade will create a specific area for SQL Server Appliance to develop solutions and services for the global market.

Avanade is a joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft, serving 24 countries worldwide and employing more than 10,000 professionals. In Latin America, the company has an office in Brazil.


Argentine IT distributor Elit has appointed Belén Fucks as head of its new office in capital Buenos Aires, the company said on its website.

The executive will be responsible for developing the portfolios distributed by the company and increasing its presence in the area.

Founded in 1989, the company distributes products from companies such as HP, Epson, Verbatim, Kingston, Canon, Genius, Lexmark and Samsung.


The Argentine version of US collective purchase website Groupon has launched services in Bahía Blanca, a city located in the country's east, the company said in a statement.

The city now joins Buenos Aires, Rosario, Córdoba, Mar del Plata, La Plata, Mendoza and Santa Fe, which already have Groupon services.

Groupon started operating in Argentina in June 2010. The company was launched in 2008 and currently has some 35mn registered users worldwide.


Argentine software provider Sistemas Bejerman has opened two new communication channels to contact clients and the IT and business community, the company said in a statement.

The company has opened a Facebook and a Twitter account to generate faster feedback and interaction and to share information on new developments.
