Internet security provider BitDefender has appointed Alejandro Musgrove as president for the Americas, the company said in a statement.

With more than 17 years of experience in marketing, Musgrove previously worked for Kaspersky Labs Latin America, Oracle, Symantec and Microsoft.

"The time has come for us to take our proven market leadership in Europe and Asia to the Americas. We have very aggressive growth plans for the next two years in both North America and Latin America, and hiring a proven and experienced president [such as] Alejandro adds the vision and leadership we need to reach these goals," company COO Charles Arizmendi said.

Canadian IT service management consulting firm Pink Elephant will hold an IT services management congress on June 29-30 at the Sheraton María Isabel hotel in Mexico City, the company said in a statement.

RKM Suministros has won the 2011 Microsoft country partner of the year award for Venezuela, the company said in a statement.

RKM is a systems integration firm servicing northern Latin America. It is one of the largest Microsoft large account resellers (LARs) in Venezuela.

RKM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dallas-based NewMarket Technology.

Canadian firm VendTek Systems, a developer and licensor of software for the global prepaid and financial services markets, expects to see significant growth from its Brazilian operation in the future, the company said in a statement.

"Our focus during the first half of our fiscal year has included building our operations in Brazil by putting in place the three pillars of the operating business. We are processing transactions for all four major wireless carriers, and our efforts for the remainder of the fiscal year will be to grow the number of distribution points and to add additional products and services," company CEO Doug Buchanan said.

The company is still in its early launch phase in Brazil, company CFO Nurez Khimji added.
