Spanish IT consultancy firm Crystalis Consulting is launching a new subsidiary, aimed specifically at the development of tailored solutions for the financial segment, the company said in a statement.

The new unit, Crystalis Portfolio, arises from the merger with IT Portfolio, a company specialized in financial sector services with 11 years of experience. It will offer SAP-based banking and financial operations solutions.

In Latin America, Crystalis Consulting operates in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay and Central America.

CIO Cono Sur 2011, a conference that will gather IT professionals from major companies in the Southern Cone, is slated to take place from November 17-20 in Florianópolis, capital of Brazil's Santa Catarina state.

During the event, Latin America IT solutions firm Exceda will be presenting solutions that aim to speed up internet and intranet applications, said the company.

Exceda Chile executive Rodrigo Valdez wil be one of the keynote speakers.


UBS Investment Research downgraded its recommendation on Brazilian online retailer B2W from neutral to sell.

UBS also reduced the price target for B2W's shares to 11.60 reais from 19.30 reais.

The downgrading is said to reflect of B2W's "disappointing" quarterly reports, with a 37.9mn-real (US$21.5mn) net loss. B2W is the holding of Americanas and Submarino websites.


US video communications solutions provider LifeSize has chosen Proyecciones Digitales as its Argentine partner, the online version of local daily La Nación reported.

With the agreement, audiovisual solutions integrator Proyecciones Digitales will be certified to sell LifeSize videoconference solutions in the Argentinian market.

The solutions will include mono and multipoint equipment for rooms, equipment for personal use, videoconferencing software solutions, infrastructure services and cloud services.
