Brazilian industrial automation software producer Elipse has opened a branch in Rio de Janeiro, the company said in a statement.

The new facility will cover the entire Rio de Janeiro state. Business will be driven by pre-salt development, as well as the upcoming Olympics Games and World Cup, according to company commercial manager Cláudia Masi Messias.

In the country, Elipse also has branches in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Porto Alegre.

Brazilian distributor Move1 has tapped Eduardo Villas Boas as executive director, the company said in a statement.

Villas has more than 14 years of IT experience, and most recently worked for Brazilian ICT distributor Agis.

The executive holds an MBA from Brazil's Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV).


Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) will carry out a Latin American roadshow to spotlight its SPARC servers, the company said in a statement.

The event will pass through Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina.


IBM (NYSE: IBM), tech firm SemperTI and Latin American IT products distributor Aktio, a unit of Brazilian IT firm Grupo Açao, will host a conference April 15, Aktio said in a statement.

The event will take place in Buenos Aires and will focus on SOA architectures and IBM's Informix solution.
