Power, gas and water measurement and control provider Elster (NYSE: ELT) has appointed Geraldo Guimaraes Jr to lead Elster Integrated Solutions Latin America, the company reported in a release.

Guimaraes will be based at Elster's new Latin American headquarters in Brazil's São Paulo city, from where the company will develop and deliver integrated smart metering and smart grid solutions in the region.

"Utilities across Brazil and Latin America are actively modernizing their utility infrastructure and electric grids to support growing populations and dynamic economies," Guimaraes said.

Chilean IT firm Novis has become the first SAP (NYSE: SAP) channel in Latin America to obtain all of the German company's outsourcing services certifications, SAP said in a statement.

Novis recently received SAP cloud services, SAP application management services and SAP hosting certifications.

Novis' key clients include Chilean state development agency Corfo, food producer Agrosuper and the state-owned Metro company, which operates capital Santiago's subway network. Novis' offering includes SAP application management, technical support, upgrades, implementation and consulting.


Spanish IT firm Geinfor has launched operations in Ecuador through an agreement with local company Vteksoftfin, the former said in a statement.

Under the agreement, Vteksoftfin will distribute Geinfor's solutions.

With this new agreement, the Spanish company now has five business partners in Latin America. In Spain, it has 23 distributors.


The Argentine division of Franco-Dutch IT company Atos Origin has appointed Andrés Rombolá as its new commercial director, the company said in a release.

Rombolá previously worked for EDS and IBM Argentina.

The executive holds a degree in economics from Argentina's Universidad de Buenos Aires.
