US ICT firm Harris has appointed Antonio Leonel da Luz as media software business development manager for Latin America and the Caribbean, Harris said in a statement.

The executive, who will be based in Miami, previously worked for several companies, including TV Cultura de São Paulo, Ampex, Philips, Videodata, CIS Group and Comtelsat.

Argentina's famous Recoleta cemetery has selected local security technology provider Prioridad 1 to implement a surveillance solution, the latter said in a statement.

Founded in 1990, Prioridad 1 implements tailor-made security solutions for its clients, including design, supply, installation and maintenance. The company's solutions include biometric devices, CCTV and internet image transmission systems.

Based in Buenos Aires, Prioridad 1's clients include local units of Sistemas Bejerman, Siemensand Burger King.


Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) has carried out its developers day in Uruguay and Paraguay, where it presented the Oracle WebCenter Portal Framework and its new Service Component Architecture, Oracle said in a release.


Uruguayan IT firm The Bird Solutions has become a member of local IT chamber Cuti, the latter said in a statement.

The firm, which was founded in 2008, focuses on software development.

Cuti currently has more than 300 member companies.
