UK IT services firm Logica has appointed Francisco Munhoz Filho as information security manager for Logica Brasil, the company said in a statement.

Munhoz will be responsible for the management of the data security processes within the company and also Logica's clients. The executive will report to the company's infrastructure management area.

Prior to joining Logica, Munhoz worked in the IT segment of companies like General Motors Brasil and EDS do Brasil. He holds a degree in mathematics from Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências, e Letras de SCS.

Sonda IT, the Brazilian unit of Chilean IT systems integrator Sonda, has nominated Flávio Paiva as new commercial director for its platform branch, Sonda Telsinc, the company announced.

Sonda Telsinc's portfolio includes solutions in convergence, mobility, datacenter, virtualization and backbone.

Paiva has been working for Sonda since 2008, prior to which he worked for companies such as Grupo Algar, Grupo Bull, NEC and Getronics. He has a degree in electrical engineering, with an IT emphasis, from Faculdade de Engenharia Industrail (FEI), and a masters in marketing and services from Fundação Instituto de Administração (FIA).


Through its program "Samsung Hope for Children," the Chilean unit of Samsung is taking part in a project called "Programa Digital para Escuelas" to support the digital education of Chilean youth.

In total, 10 schools in different regions will benefit from technology transfer through 2013, benefitting some 3,000 students.


The city of São Paulo will host on November 29-30 the E-merging summit, said to be the largest e-commerce conference for emerging countries.

The summit - to take place in the Sheraton Word Trade Center - is organized by E-commerce Summit Brazil in partnership with Latin America e-commerce institute ILCE and red Innova.
