Roundup: Stefanini, Elipse, digital cities, Progress Software

The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) has named Brazil's Stefanini IT Solutions to the leaders category in IAOP's 2011 Global Outsourcing 100 service providers list, the latter said in a statement.

Stefanini also recently announced that it had been ranked by consultancy Gartner in the 2011 leaders quadrant for help desk outsourcing, North America.

Stefanini provides IT outsourcing services to large and medium-sized businesses globally. The company's primary services consist of IT infrastructure outsourcing, including help desk and desktop managed services; application development and lifecycle management services; systems integration and consulting; and strategic staffing services.

Brazilian industrial automation software producer Elipse has implemented its Elipse Power solution for network equipment automation of local power distributor Rede Energia, the former said in a release.

Elipse has branches in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre. The firm also has offices in the US and Taiwan.

Chilean city Viña del Mar will host the fifth national meeting of digital cities on October 7-8, local IT consultancy AntropoNet said in a release.

The meeting has the support of local IT industry associations Acti and Gechs, among other institutions.

US firm Progress Software Corporation (Nasdaq: PRGS) has been selected by Brazilian brokerage Banif Corretora to implement Progress Apama Algorithmic Trading platform to build and deliver high-frequency trading strategies to its corporate customers, the former said in a statement.

Banif Corretora expects to migrate at least 50% of its operations to the low-latency model through the Progress Apama platform within the next three years.

The trading platform will enable Banif Corretora's analysts to work with clients to design customized algorithmic trading strategies, providing them with significant competitive advantage.
