Argentine agribusiness group Unitec Agro has implemented local software firm Finnegans' ERM solution, the latter informed in a statement.

The solution, Ceres Live, is tailor-made for the agribusiness segment and is expected to streamline the management and planning of Unitec's operations, particularly concerning livestock production processes and budget control.

Rio de Janeiro municipal authorities have launched, in partnership with Cisco, a new unit of the Praça do Conhecimento ("Knowledge square") digital inclusion project in the Nova Brasília neighborhood, at Morro do Alemão hill, Cisco announced in a statement.

The initiative seeks to provide workers and students with IT training and is technically supported by the Cisco Networking Academy program.

Cisco expects some 300 poor youth from the community will receive training in the first half of 2012.

The Praça do Conhecimento project will open new units in other neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro next year, also in partnership with Cisco.


The creators of four projects presented during Chile's first Geek Fantasy Camp were awarded trips to Silicon Valley, California.

In California, the winners will present their ideas to potential US investors.

A jury of Chilean and US technology experts picked the projects, evaluating them based on their chances of being funded for development and commercialization.


The next edition of web 2.0 summit Web Expo Forum, in São Paulo, will take place March 12-13 and focus on social networks.

Among the topics that will be addressed during the event are the corporate use of social media, the use of social networks for e-commerce, the use of social networks by governments, and the challenge of integrating IT departments and social media.
